last night when the connect ppl were over at my place, i overheard the sermon abt Jesus chasing the demons into the pigs (mark 5:1-20). so i posted on fb, "i wonder if the pig farmer sued Jesus for damages when he chased the demons out into the pigs and caused them to run away and drown..."
today i went back to fb and found a message from jiaying, my upper sec classmate back in RGS. she saw my status and LOLed, and shared abit w me on that passage. pretty interesting, so gonna blog it up:
"The things about pigs to the Jews is that they were worthless. Like the Muslims, Jews could not eat pigs. They foraged in the sewers and the graveyard (Ew) and were considered unclean. God was quite merciful to put the demons into the pigs, lest they get sent to the Abyss.
You do have a point though. To the Gentiles, which was the community Jesus was in, the pigs were worth a lot of money! But what I find interesting is what God says later. He tells the man to stay, and tell others what He has done. If you look at it economically, the part about the pigs which Jesus had done was not something to be happy about! Nonetheless, the people were amazed. They were amazed at the transformation of the man from some crazy lun to a normal person.
About the pigs, I guess God cannot tolerate sin or that which is unclean in our lives. Perhaps in some aspects of our lives as well, although it may be part of our livelihoods, God still does not tolerate it."
good to learn something new everyday!
tonight i will finish up my legal memo first draft and contract WA pointers. STEADY.
i kinda miss the feeling of being in love, but i'm enjoying being single.
i miss having someone to spend time with, but i'm very relieved to have one less commitment right now.
and, i miss having someone to tell everything to. but i know if i want to, i have friends who are there for me just as much, if not more.
and i have God.
thought about what david said today.. is it possible to be both singleminded in Christ and in love at the same time?
